- The legend of the Blue Max spans several years and various liveries over its famous history. In the beginning, the Blue Max didn't have a name or its distinctive German cross. Schmidt hired Don Hardy to build a Ford Mustang for the 1969 season with a staggering powerplant built by the famed Ramchargers. A year later Schmidt added the distinctive Blue Max regalia, debuting at the 1970 NHRA Winternationals at Pomona, California, where it set top speed of the meet for Funny Cars at 203.61 mph. The new look and notable speed was the intro into Funny Car history.
- While Schmidt who gave the sport the Blue Max Funny Car, Raymond Beadle furthered the Blue Max's fame with his sensational battles Don Prudhomme in the mid-1970s and three consecutive world championships that followed in 1979, 1980 and 1981 - helping to secure the Blue Max as a household name. This 1973 Ford Mustang Blue Max, as driven by Richard Tharp, is a great addition to the Legends of the Quarter Mile lineup, and Auto World is proud to offer this limited-edition funny car in this rare version of this iconic livery.

- This car debuted at the 1967 NHRA Spring Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee, and changed Gassers forever. It was at corporate Ford’s insistence that Ohio George race what Ford sold. This car proved so superior in handling and performance that George’s previous Gasser, the “World’s Wildest Willys,” was permanently retired. The Malco Gasser was powered by a 6-71-blown 427ci SOHC Ford engine that made approximately 1,200hp on pump gas. It was raced until May 1975, running a best of 8.12 at 173.07 mph in the quarter. George set five NHRA national records with this car and won Super Eliminator at the 1969 NHRA Spring Nationals before replacing it with the blown, then turbocharged Boss 429-powered red 1969 Sports Roof. So, in honor of Ohio George and his mustang and his countless accomplishments throughout his racing career, ACME is pleased to offer this tribute to his iconic Malco Gasser!

They could be bought in either Standard or Deluxe trim, depending the buyer’s need for personal luxury or added amenities. Under the hood of the 1934 Ford was the 221ci flat-head V8 engine with a 3.0625in bore and 3.75in stroke that produced 85hp. Ford sold a total of 28,492 units of the standard 3-window coupe and 27,956 Deluxe 3-window coupes.
- Returning from WWII and getting back to work with some money in their pockets, Americans discovered a new pastime...hot rodding. The 1930s-era Ford was ripe for the picking. By the late 1940s, the Model Bs and Model 18s were well over a decade old, making them cheap to buy with parts readily available. Hot rodders bought them up in droves wrenching in their garages turning these once-tame suburban coaches into fire-breathing monsters! The hot rodding trend continued strong well into the 1960s. Even today, the 1934 Ford 3-window coupe remains one of the most sought-after hot rodding platforms.
