- Purists turn their nose at mixing and matching of Pontiac history, but Paul Menin of Ashely Falls, Massachusetts did just that and saved his 1968 Pontiac GTO from becoming parts-car status. He found it in a Quonset hut in Thomaston, Connecticut. When he ordered up the car’s documentation from the Pontiac Historic Services, he realized this was a desirable car in a rare color, Meridian Turquoise. On the exterior, you’ll notice extra graphics that call out the Royal Bobcat performance kit. At one time, this car had the complete Royal Bobcat performance treatment which was produced and sold to enthusiasts nationwide. Over time, those pieces had been removed. To reconstruct this ‘68, Paul utilized all the sources for NOS parts that existed in the 1990s, plus, he added the Royal Bobcat parts from his own collection. Among those parts were new fenders, quarter panels, a front bumper, trunk lid, and the front valence. In addition, he added a reclining seat, 8-track player, AM/FM radio, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering, and Hurst five-spoke mag wheels. Paul also installed a 1971-vintage 400 short-block. To top it off, he added the correct 1968-vintage parts to form the Ram Air II equipment the car features today.

- The Catalina moniker first appeared on the 1950 Chieftain Eight and DeLuxe Eight models. It wasn't until 1959 that it became a standalone mark for "entry-level" full-size Pontiac vehicles. By 1961, the Catalina was restyled and redesigned, including an all-new Torque-Box perimeter frame that replaced the "X" frame chassis used since 1958. Roof lines were more squared, panels were flatter, and the split front grill made its return. Engine options for 1961 included several variations of the 389ci V8. Standard was the 2bbl 3-speed making 215hp, or 267hp with the optional Hydramatic, or a 230hp "economy" automatic. Entering performance territory was the 389ci 4bbl with 333hp, or also a 348hp Tri-Power option with higher compression. Offered to drag racers was the 363hp variation. However, the top dog was the very rare, dealer-installed 421ci Super Duty made available near the end of 1961.

- The 4th Fighter Wing is a United States Air Force unit assigned to the Air Combat Command's Ninth Air Force. It is stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, where it is also the host unit. The wing is one of two Air Force units that can trace its history to another country. The wing's 4th Operations Group had its origins as the Royal Air Force Eagle Squadrons (Nos. 71, 121 and 133 Squadrons). When the United States entered World War II, these units, and the American pilots in them, were transferred to the United States Army Air Forces VIII Fighter Command, forming the 4th Fighter Group on 12 September 1942.
- The 4th Fighter Group was the first fighter group to use belly tanks, the first to penetrate Germany, the first to accompany bombers to Berlin, the first to accomplish the England-to-Russia shuttle and the first to down jet fighters. The group was credited with the destruction of 1,016 (including strafing kills) enemy aircraft, more than any other American fighter unit, and produced 38 aces. In 1988 the 4th TFW began transitioning to the F-15E Strike Eagle. The first F-15E arrived on 29 December 1988, and the 336th Tactical Fighter Squadron became the first operational F-15E squadron in the Air Force on 1 October 1989. The transition from the F-4E to the F-15E was completed on 1 July 1991, making the 4th TFW the first operational F-15E wing in the Air Force. The 334th FS began transitioning from an operational squadron to an F-15E training squadron in 1995, giving the 4th two F-15E training squadrons.
